Boys

All the boys at STEKA now have a safe, enjoyable and positive home. They all have hopes and dreams for the future that you can help to realise. STEKA receives no government funding and relies on donations to feed, clothe and educate the children. Benjamin

Benjamin is the youngest member of the STEKA family and arrived at STEKA in May 2016 after being abandoned by his mother. His date of birth is unknown however he was estimated to be around two months old at the time of his arrival. Benjamin is a very happy baby and now enjoys lots of cuddles from his big brothers and sisters, who all love him very much.

After his arrival we received many kind donations of clothing and baby items for Benjamin, which we are all very grateful for! However, the cost of feeding Benjamin is still a big challenge. Peter (Boi Boi)

Boi Boi’s date of birth is unknown but he was about 6 months old when he came to STEKA in 2013.

Boi Boi came to STEKA to be cared for after he was abandoned.

Boi Boi  loves playing and running around. He had been the baby of the family from when he arrived until May 2016, when baby Benjamin arrived, now Boi Boi loves being a big brother!

Phinias

Phinias was born in 1999 and arrived at STEKA in 2007 at the age of 8 as he was living on the streets.

Due to his learning difficulties, Phineas doesn’t currently attend school but enjoys learning at home with the volunteers and helping them teach the nursery class.

Phinias enjoys singing, using building blocks and drawing. He loves cars and aeroplanes!

Joshua

Joshua is 8 years old and came to STEKA when he was just one month old. Joshua loves to draw, use his imagination and make things! He hopes to be a priest when he is older. Joshua has excelled at the Montessori Christian Primary School and is already in Standard 6 – his favourite subject is English.

Joshua says, “I like having lots of brothers and sisters because I always have someone to play with!”

Gift

Gift was born in 1997. Gift enjoys reading and had read every novel at STEKA until a donation of books came in earlier this year! He has recently enjoyed reading Michael Morpurgo books, which came in this donation – Morpurgo is now his favourite author! Gift dreams of studying Sociology in the UK and hopes a degree will help him to support STEKA in the future.

Gift is currently in his final year of secondary school at Henry Henderson Institute in Blantyre.

Gift describes the day he arrived at STEKA as the happiest day of his life.

Chisomo

Chisomo is estimated to be around 2 years old, although his date of birth is unknown. He arrived at STEKA this year (2016).

Chisomo is settling into his new family at STEKA and is enjoying having lots of brothers and sisters to play with. Impressed by Chisomo’s intelligence and eagerness to learn, a visitor to STEKA now sponsors him to attend a private nursery school!

Yamikani

Yamikani was left at STEKA in 2015, when he was 6 years old. Yamikani loves playing with his new brothers Wisdom and Innocent and learning maths and English with the volunteers.

Yamikani loves learning and is very clever – he has just started standard one at Montessori Christian School and is making great progress. He says he loves school as he learns every day. When he is older, Yamikani would like to be a police man!

Vincent

Vincent is 10 years old and has been living at STEKA since 2014. Vincent loves looking after his younger brothers and sisters, art and making toys out of things he has found outside.

Andrew

Andrew was born in 2009 and came to STEKA in 2010 to be cared for after he was abandoned. Andrew has a prosthetic foot but this doesn’t stop his love for sports such as football and running!

Andrew is 7 years old and is in Standard 2 at Montessori Christian School, where he loves doing sums! When he is at home Andrew loves building with LEGO blocks. When he is older Andrew would like to drive a boat on Lake Malawi!

Davie

Themba’s date of birth is unknown but he arrived at STEKA in 2015. He now enjoys going to STEKA nursery school, where he is learning to write his letters and numbers! Themba loves making toy cars out of things he finds in the garden and playing with his brothers and sisters at STEKA!

January

Hope arrived at STEKA in August 2007 and is now 16 years old. Hope is in his last year at Nyambadwe Secondary School, where he loves learning English and IT. He wants to work with computers when he is older.
